The Honorable Marshaun S. Williams (Dallas, Texas)


Student Regent Marshaun Williams is a senior at Texas Southern University. She was born and raised in Dallas, Texas where she attended Skyline High School graduating in the top of her class. A student of the Thomas F. Freeman Honors College, Ms. Williams is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs with a minor in History. Ms. Williams’s undergraduate career has consisted of several leadership positions. As a freshman Ms. Williams served as President Elect of the Collegiate 100 Black Women, an award winning campus organization. She later transitioned to President a position in which she served for two consecutive years.


Ms. Williams is also a member of the world renowned Texas Southern University Debate team. Ms. Williams has traveled to both Rome and Belgium where the teams has placed top rank for the past three years. Ms. Williams is also a member of the Delta Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, where she serves as Second Vice-President.


Ms. Williams plans on pursuing a career in the legal arena, and is currently studying for the LSAT. Ms. Williams has interned with Spencer Crain Cubbage, pllc as well as Harris County Tax Assessor Mike Sullivan. During her internship Ms. Williams was recognized as one of the top interns in the Voter registration department.


Civic Engagement is also an important issue to Ms. Williams. She is a member of the Texas League of Young Voters Program (TLF), a program centered on leadership specifically tailored to empower civic‐minded young people to become community advocates and activists. Ms. Williams is a certified community organizer, and she served as a field coordinator for TLF.


She currently volunteers with Star of Hope Houston, a nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless men, women and their children. Ms. Williams also enjoys mentoring young girls though WALIPP-TSU Girls Academy.
