The Honorable Ashley P. Johnson (Kansas City, Missouri)
Student Regent Ashley Pleas Johnson was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri attending Raytown Sr. High school. In her time she was an advocate and a persistent activist for change in law and race relations in Missouri. Regent Johnson attended a college tour in 2016 that inspired her to attend Texas Southern University.
Regent Johnson moved to Houston, Texas in 2017 to pursue a bachelors degree in political science with a French minor from Texas southern university. She will be the first person in her immediate family to attend and graduate from university. Regent Johnson prides herself on being an advocate and activist for change in the educational systems and wants to do more to provide a great administration of education to all. Regent Johnson currently sits on the board of young invincibles youth advisory board in an effort to lobby for more diverse and accessible education to all Texans.
Ashley also served on the executive board for the Texas Southern University debate team and is an IFA champion (2018). In her time as Student Regent, she wants to create a more affordable and accessible distribution of education to TSU students. Post-graduation Regent Johnson wants to attend Law School at the University of Missouri and go on to serve as an attorney.
