The Honorable Kernard D Jones (Houston, Texas)


Kernard D JonesStudent Regent Kernard D. Jones hails from Houston, Texas where he attended Westside High School and was a student leader and advocate. Regent Jones was raised by his mom with his older brother. His dad is a Pastor at Victory Gospel Chapel in San Antonio, Texas.

Regent Jones is currently a Political Science major at the illustrious Texas Southern University. Being the first one in his family to attend college, he is creating a new legacy within his family. Regent Jones currently holds a high GPA while being a fierce advocate both on campus and within the third ward community. He is the former President of Baptist Student Ministry, former Associate Justice for Student Government Association, Vice President of the Political Science Org. a Board Member of the Young Invincibles Young Adult Advisory Board, and he works as a higher education advocate for an organization in Houston.

In March 2017, Regent Jones was appointed by Texas Senate District to serve as Precinct Chair for district 807. On top of this he has worked with Council Member Dwight Boykins and is a fellow for Organizing for Action. While achieving all of this, Regent Jones became the co-founder and co-CEO of the Dallas-Jones Dream Foundation, a scholarship foundation dedicated to financially assisting students on HBCU campuses. Post-graduation he plans on attending Harvard University and getting his law degree in Constitutional law. Regent Jones also has intentions to run for an At-Large City Council position in Houston.
