Community Pharmacy Residency


Program Description

The TSU College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences PGY1 residency program, in conjunction with The University of Texas Medical Branch, is designed to build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy education to develop pharmacist providers with the knowledge, skills, and expertise to advance patient care services in the community setting. The resident will provide direct patient care to a diverse population while engaged in collaborative practices with physicians and other healthcare providers. Residents who successfully complete the program will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education. Residents completing the program shall have the ability to effectively provide care with a foundation in community pharmacy. Additionally, residents will be prepared for board certification as well as PGY2 training.

Qualifications

The applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be a graduate or candidate for graduation from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program
  2. Eligibility to work in the United States
  3. Eligible for pharmacy licensure in Texas
  4. Evidence of Participation in the NMS-ASHP Resident Match Program

The PGY1 Community resident will receive a competitive annual salary with full Texas State benefits after 90-days of employment

Application Deadline

January 15th of the year. The program participates in the ASHP matching program.
