About the JHJ School of Business Alumni Association

The Jesse H. Jones School of Business Alumni Association is a chapter of the Texas Southern University National Alumni Association.  The Association takes pride in serving TSU and the JHJ community by offering:

  • Career Advice. Alumni members speak in various classes to provide students with perspectives about the world of business, broaden their career aspiration, and present positive role models to students.
  • School Support and Presence.  Alumni assist the School with activities on an off campus as volunteers and attendants to various events.
  • Student Scholarships. Members of the Association sell raffle tickets, host receptions, and sponsor activities to raise funds for student scholarships for business students.

Meetings

The Alumni Association meets every third Friday of each month (except June and July) from 6 p.m. -7:30 p.m. in the JHJ building in room 128.

Mission

The mission of the Jesse H. Jones School of Business Alumni Association is to foster, promote, explore, and advance new and innovative activities and programs that will enhance the career opportunities, lives and goals of the students at and from the School of Business at Texas Southern University.

History

The JHJ Alumni Association was reorganized in September of 1990.  The very first officers were elected in 1991 and Anthony Gobert served as the first president from 1991-1994.   The goal of the chapter is to award scholarships to students who need help in purchasing books or paying fees.  Over the years, the organization has awarded more than 56 scholarships totaling over $30,000.

Since its reorganization, the chapter strives to involve alumni in the many programs and services.  The chapter is a chartered organization of the National Alumni Association.
