Professional Biography Shaswati Nina Saha is an associate professor in the department of curriculum and instruction
and has been at Texas Southern University since 1997. Although she joined the department
as faculty in the special education division, Dr. Saha has taught courses in different
areas of education. A graduate faculty since 1998, she teaches both undergraduate
and graduate students. Dr. Saha brings with her a vast array of experiences in inclusive
education and instructional strategies. She has served as an advocate for parents
of children with disabilities, and consulted with many school districts around the
state of Texas, on issues related to serving students with disabilities in general
education classes. Dr. Saha has presented on inclusive education, multicultural education,
differentiated instruction, positive behavior management and co-teaching and collaboration.
She has published articles on inclusive education, school and parent collaboration,
and the over representation of minority students in special education.
