Senior and Honors College scholar Destiny Omeire is the principal author of a peer-reviewed article in the current early on-line edition of Mitochondrial DNA.
The article has the title Complete Mitochondrial Genome of Germain’s Peacock Pheasant Polyplectron Germaini. It arose from a DNA sequencing project in which the collaborators with Omeire were Dr. Hector Miranda Jr., Interim Assistant Dean in the Honors College, and Dr. Daniel Brooks of the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
Omeire also was a recipient of an award in the Summer 2013 Undergraduate Research Program of the Office of Research at Texas Southern University.
