Please apply for the scholarship based on your current classification. You are:

  • First-Time Freshman – You are considered a first-time freshmen student if you are a high school graduate who has not earned any college credits since high school. (This does not include current high school students who are also taking college courses.)
  • Transfer – You are considered a transfer student if you are a high school graduate who has completed at least 12 college credits since high school and before your expected date of entry into Texas Southern University. (This does not include current high school students who are also taking college courses.)
  • Continuing – You are considered a continuing student if you maintain a continuous attendance and are in good academic standing at Texas Southern University and cannot be considered as first-time freshman or transfer student.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  • Apply Online – Filing electronically increases the accuracy of your application, saves mailing time, and reduces the processing time to about two weeks. The electronic version may be submitted on-line at the U.S. Department of Education web site, www.fafsa.ed.gov
  • Apply by Phone – FAFSA on the Phone is a non-Web, paperless alternative to completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Contact FAFSA at 1-800-4-FED-AID
  • Apply by Paper Form – Students requiring a paper application may call the U.S. Department of Education at 1-800-433-3243 for assistance
