TSU alumnus Jason Parker (bachelor’s degree in 2006; and ’14 eMPA graduate) was nominated for and accepted the Reverend Al Sharpton National Action Network (NAN) New York Citys chapter 2019 Men of Vision Award at a ceremony last month.
NAN is one of the leading civil rights organizations in the nation, working extensively to promote a modern civil rights agenda that emphasizes a standard of decency for all people regardless of race or sex, social justice for all communities, and improvements in race relations. Celebrating 28 years, NAN has served as a megaphone for the voiceless and an advocate for those in need. The Men of Vision Award is designed to honor men who:

  • Develop and advance their communities without regard for race, color, gender, age or national origin
  • Labor in an atmosphere that fosters trust, teamwork and leadership
  • Are men of service, substance, and excellence who appreciate diversity and treat everyone with dignity, decency, and respect
  •  Are supporters and advocates for peace and the struggle for justice
Parker works for the Mayor and First Lady of the City of New York within the Office of Special Projects and Community Events where he organizes, manages and directs Mayoral public ceremonies, celebrations and receptions for the current administration.
