Tigers on the Move: Alumnus Elvonte Patton Embarks on New Journey with the UNCF

Elvonte Patton is an accomplished individual whose journey is marked by a deep commitment to education, community service, and innovation. He graduated from Texas Southern University with a B.S. in Child Development in 2009 and went on to earn a Master's in Human Services and Consumer Science in 2014.

His TSU experience prepared him for a life of service. In April 2024, he began a new role as a National Major Gifts Officer (fundraiser) for the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), where he continues to make significant contributions to higher education and access to opportunities for underserved communities. Prior to joining the UNCF, Patton was the Major Gifts Manager and Volunteer Coordinator for The Salvation Army of Greater Houston.

During his time at Texas Southern University, Elvonte was actively involved in various campus organizations and leadership roles. He was a dedicated member of the Texas Southern University Track team, a Justice in the Student Government Association, and proudly served as President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, leaving a lasting impact on the university community.

Elvonte's passion for community service and youth development continued to flourish beyond graduation. He carried his commitment into the classroom as an adjunct professor in the Child Development Department at Texas Southern University, where he shared his expertise and mentored future educators.

Driven by a global perspective, Elvonte embarked on a journey to Europe, collaborating with the European Union on Educational International Policy, contributing to discussions that shape educational initiatives on an international scale.

Returning to the United States, Elvonte pursued public service by running for public office, including campaigns for the Harris County School Board and State Representative District 131, advocating for educational reform and community empowerment.

One of his remarkable achievements is the creation of an iOS application called Social Ring (https://www.social-ring.com), developed in collaboration with his brother. This innovative platform exemplifies his dedication to leveraging technology for social impact and community engagement.
