KAPSI PicGreetings and welcome to Beta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc where our fundamental purpose is achievement. The Beta Upsilon Chapter was founded March 15, 1947. As the first fraternity chartered on the campus of Texas Southern University, we pride ourselves in excellence in achievement. The brothers on campus are involved in several facets of campus life and in the surrounding community like:

  • Student Government Association (campus organization)
  • Community Service (Houston service projects)
  • Pan-Hellenic Council (Divine Nine)
  • Guide Right Program (mentoring)

Kappa Alpha Psi was founded on the night of January 5th, 1911 on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Created by our 10 founders, Kappa Alpha Psi was established in order to combat the high racial tensions African-Americans faced on the predominately white campus.

Today, Kappa Alpha Psi focuses on five major objectives to develop gentlemen:

  1. To unite college men of culture, patriotism and honor in a bond of Fraternity;
  2. To encourage honorable achievement in every field of human endeavor;
  3. To promote the spiritual, social, intellectual and moral welfare of its members;
  4. To assist the aims and purposes of colleges and universities;
  5. To inspire service in the public's interest.

Kappa Alpha Psi does not condone hazing.
