FACULTY SPOTLIGHT - Dr. Dominque Guinn

Dr. Dominique Guinn has been awarded the 2020 Empowering Community Action grant, a vital funding initiative aimed at reducing the impact of HIV among Black and Latinx gay and bisexual men, GBMSM, transgender individuals, and Black women across Texas. This grant supports community-driven solutions, education, and outreach efforts, promoting health equity and access to essential resources.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT - Brian McDonald

Brian McDonald has been appointed as interim superintendent of the Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education. Holding a master’s degree in education administration from Texas Southern University, McDonald brings extensive experience in school leadership, having previously served as school improvement officer for the Houston Independent School District and as an elementary and middle school principal for six years.

Since joining Pasadena Unified as chief academic officer in 2011, McDonald—fluent in Spanish—has led the implementation of Common Core State Standards, strengthened the magnet school program, and expanded dual-language immersion programs, enhancing educational opportunities for diverse student communities.
