Professional Biography
Emma L. Amacker, Ed.D., a native of Louisiana, an associate professor, instructor
of professional development, and university supervisor of student teachers is a faculty
member in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Texas Southern University.
Dr. Amacker is an experienced public school teacher, university instructor and educational
consultant. She has spent the majority of her professional life combating school failure,
and has designed a number of practical in-service programs which schools can use to
eliminate failure by building the self worth of students through effective communication
and motivation. She received the Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Grambling
State University in Louisiana, a Master’s degree in Urban Education from Governors
State University in Illinois and a Doctorate Degree in urban Education from Texas
Southern University in Houston, Texas. In addition to teaching and consulting she
has presented at numerous local, state, national and international conferences. She
has also provided Staff Development for many schools in the surrounding school districts
of Houston, Texas and throughout the United States since 1978. Today, Dr. Amacker
continues to practice her profession while adhering to the belief that there is no
child who cannot learn. Her slogan, “It’s just called Teaching U All” has guided her
classroom, seminar, workshop, conference and mentoring activities across more than
fifty years of professional service to children, their parents, administrators and
teachers.
