Incoming freshman and transfer students must first apply and gain admittance into the university before becoming a music major.

Incoming Freshmen

Incoming students interested in pursuing a music degree must successfully audition on their principal instrument before declaring music as a major. This audition will help assess each student’s readiness to successfully matriculate through the music curriculum.

Transfer Students

Transfer music students must have a C or better in all music courses attempted. Transfer students interested in teacher certification should also have a 3.0 overall GPA in all coursework.

CONTINUING TSU STUDENTS

Current TSU students interested in changing their major to music, or adding music as a minor, should first seek guidance from their major advisor or Tanya.Allen@tsu.edu, to determine how this change might affect their current matriculation. As with incoming freshman, a successful audition on a principal instrument is required before continuing students may declare music as their major or minor
