Admissions Process

Congratulations on making the decision to return to college to complete your degree! We are eager to help you accomplish this goal.

Minimum Admission Criteria

  • Students must have a minimum of 60 transferable credits of completed coursework
  • Students must have a minimum combined GPA of 2.0 for coursework

Application to the degree programs in the College of Transdisciplinary Studies will vary depending on your student type. The various student types include:

  1. Undergraduate student (pursuing a Bachelor's degree)
    1. Readmit student (attended TSU at least 1 year or more ago)
    2. Readmit student (attended TSU at least 1 year or more ago and attended other institutions)
    3. Transfer student (never attended TSU)
  2. Graduate student (pursuing a Master's degree)
    1. New student (does not matter if you are new to TSU or a returning TSU student)

 

UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS

A. Readmit student (attended TSU at least 1 year or more ago)

  1. Complete the COTS Admission Application
  2. Receive feedback from COTS staff that you are approved to move forward with the TSU readmissions application
  3. Complete the TSU readmissions application

B. Readmit student (attended TSU at least 1 year or more ago AND attended other institutions)

  1. Complete the COTS Admission Application
  2. Receive feedback from COTS staff that you are approved to move forward with the TSU readmissions application
  3. Complete the TSU readmissions application
  4. Be prepared to upload unofficial transcripts from all the institutions you have attended
  5. Forward all official transcripts from each institution attended as noted below:
    1. Electronically through an EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) system, e.g. Speede/TRex, Parchment/Naviance, National Student Clearinghouse and Greenlight
    2. Mailed to:
      Texas Southern University
      Office of Admissions - Bell Building
      3100 Cleburne Street, Houston, TX 77004

*Please note sending transcripts in the mail will cause a delay in an admissions decision.

 

C. Transfer student (never attended TSU)

  1. Complete the COTS Admission Application
  2. Receive feedback from COTS staff that you are approved to move forward with the TSU admissions application
  3. Complete the TSU Admission Application https://www.applytexas.org/
  4. Be prepared to upload unofficial transcripts from all the institutions you have attended
  5. Pay an application fee of $42
  6. Forward all official transcripts from each institution attended as noted below:
    1. Electronically through an EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) system, e.g. Speede/TRex, Parchment/Naviance, National Student Clearinghouse and Greenlight
    2. Mailed to:

GRADUATE ADMISSIONS

The College of Transdisciplinary Studies follows The Graduate School admissions process for entry into its graduate programs. Students pursing a graduate degree must apply for admissions through The Graduate School.

  2. Submit transcripts as requested by The Graduate School
  3. The College of Transdisciplinary Studies does not require the GRE
