What Does It Mean to Pass the GED® Test?
Passing the GED® Test requires achieving a minimum score of 145 on each subject test and a total score of 580 across all four sections. Successful examinees will be awarded GED® Test credentials upon completion. Additionally, examinees may qualify for the College Ready Score or College Ready+ Credit Score if they meet the required benchmark in a single test subject. How to Register for the GED® Test
To register for the GED® Test, all examinees must schedule their test dates through Pearson VUE by contacting Pearson VUE Test Administration at 1-877-EXAM-GED (392-6433). Fee | The cost for the GED ® is $36.25 per test, $145.00 total. |

Identification | On test day, examinees must present a valid, unexpired driver’s license or state ID as primary identification. For those with an out-of-state ID, proof of residency is also required during check-in. The ID must include the examinee’s name, date of birth, signature, and a clear photograph. Without proper identification at check-in, entry to the testing room will be denied. To reschedule, examinees must contact Pearson VUE, as refunds are not provided in these cases. |
Time Duration | The GED Test is approximately 7 ¼ hours long for the four-subject examination. |
Test Results |
Examinees will receive an unofficial score at the close of the exam, prior to leaving the Testing Center for all parts of the exam (except the ‘Reasoning through Language Arts’ section). GED ® credentials will be mailed to the address confirmed during registration. Please verify the address on file is correct, before leaving the Testing Center, to avoid GED ® credentials sent to the incorrect address. |
Rescheduling | Please contact Pearson Vue at least (1) business day, in advance, to avoid forfeiting your examination fees at 1-877-EXAM-GED (392-6433). |
Retest | For all examinees interested or assigned a rescheduled exam, make sure to follow the registration process through Pearson Vue. |
