Assessment Of Student Learning Outcomes

Last completed on June 2023; Reflects Graduating Class of May 2023

All Council on Social Work Education programs measure and report student learning outcomes. Students are assessed on their mastery of the competencies that comprise the 2015 EPAS accreditation standards of the Council on Social Work Education. These 9 competencies are dimensions of social work practice (knowledge, values, skills, cognitive processes, and affective processes) that all social workers are expected to master during their professional training. A measurement benchmark is set by the social work programs for each competency. Assessment scores, on two instruments (Field Evaluation Instrument [SOCW 446], and the Multi-Dimensional Assessment [SOCW 441]), are aggregated to compute an overall score for each competency. Students who score at or above that benchmark on both instruments are considered by the program to have demonstrated mastery of the competency.
