33rd Annual
Southwestern Business Administration Teaching Conference
Keynote Speaker – Wenqi Wei

Wenqi Wei is a postdoctoral researcher at the Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Institute at the University of Houston and an experienced educator in artificial intelligence and business analytics. She teaches project-based courses that help business students understand how to apply AI tools to real managerial and organizational problems. In addition to formal teaching, she leads hands-on AI workshops for first-year students, focusing on building practical AI literacy, critical thinking, and responsible AI use in academic and professional settings.
Her research supports this teaching mission by examining how artificial intelligence is reshaping the future of work, with a particular emphasis on explainable AI, human-AI collaboration, and decision-making. Using experimental and field-based approaches, she studies how AI transparency and feedback influence labor cost and task efficiency, and shape trust, judgment, and learning. She earned her PhD in Business Management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She will be presenting “Explainable AI for Better Decisions.”
