The School of Communication's (SOC) Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs (ADAA) supports the Office of the Dean by ensuring strategic, operational, and accountable leadership for student and faculty success and engagement, KTSU2 multimedia curriculum development, creating, coordinating, and facilitating innovative pedagogy and faculty development programs that promote breakthrough research and creative activities that are responsive to the university's urban setting, and internal and external partnership development.  These goals are accomplished by the (ADAA) working directly with the dean, students, faculty, department chairs, student services, and internal and external shareholders.  The (ADAA) has the highest level of integrity, transparency, and timeliness when responding to the various shareholders to ensure the success of SOC.  To further ensure the success of the Dean's office, the (ADAA) does the following: 

  • Serves as an advocate and liaison across departments to provide clear and effective communication to ensure student and faculty success. 
  • Builds and develops collaborative and productive internal and external partnerships to ensure SOC's success. 
  • Develops innovative practices for KTSU2, SOC's student-run digital learning lab. 
  • Co-supervises student learning activities for KTSU2, SOC's student-run digital learning lab. 
  • Cultivates innovative learning pedagogy for all SOC programs. 
  • Works directly with the dean and leadership team to develop best educational practices that align with SOC's mission. 
  • Engages in short-term and long-term goal setting through strategic planning. 
  • Works directly with University committees to ensure SOC's success. 
  • Works directly with NBCU Academy to ensure operational success. 
  • Work directly with KPRC2 and KTSU2 for Black History Month programming in Houston. 
  • Identifies internal and external grant opportunities to advance SOC's mission. 
  • Uses data and assessment outcomes to improve enrollment, graduation progression, and alumni relations. 
  • Optimizes SOC efficiency and effectiveness through solution-oriented policy. 
  • Enthusiastically promotes the University and SOC missions to internal and external shareholders. 
  • Serves as the chief innovative officer by creating content across digital and emerging platforms to promote SOC's leading-edge programming.
