Commencement is the culminating event of one’s academic career. It is a special day to gather and celebrate the accomplishments of graduates of our esteemed University. Unfortunately, due to the escalating surge of COVID-19 cases in the Houston area, Texas Southern University must postpone the previously rescheduled Commencement ceremony that was to be held on August 8, 2020.

“Your safety is our top priority. University leadership believes that it is best to postpone the ceremony, as per guidelines set by the City of Houston and Harris County,” said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Kendall T. Harris.

“We understand the magnitude of this change and the resulting disappointment of not being able to celebrate in person with family and friends in August.”

Texas Southern University is proud of our students for reaching this major milestone. Updates about how and when TSU will move forward with Commencement will be shared as soon as information is available. Degrees will be conferred even though the event has been postponed.

As our new alumni graduate from Texas Southern University from a distance, campus resources are still available as they are lifetime members of the TSU family. If one is searching for employment, the TSU Career and Professional Development Center is available as a resource. Graduates are encouraged to stay connected with their alma mater by joining and getting involved in their local alumni chapter. Visit www.tsunaa.com for more information.

The Tiger Family honors and salutes this achievement. TSU knows that our graduates are destined for great things on the road ahead and look forward to celebrating with them when conditions permit.
