Ms. Yvette Barker serves as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at Texas Southern University, where she provides strategic leadership in support of student success, engagement, and the overall student experience. With more than 25 years of experience in higher education, Ms. Barker has built an extensive career in student affairs, housing and residential life, campus operations, and student development.

Prior to joining Texas Southern University, Ms. Barker served as General Manager for American Campus Communities at Prairie View A&M University, where she gained extensive experience in university housing operations, management, and student services.

Ms. Barker joined Texas Southern University in 2016 as Director of Housing and has since served in several progressive leadership roles, including Executive Director of Residential Life & Housing and Interim Assistant Vice President for Student Life & Engagement. Her leadership and commitment to student-centered excellence have contributed to programs, services, and initiatives designed to strengthen student engagement, foster a sense of belonging, and enhance the collegiate experience at TSU.
