TSU Institute of Urban Public Health and Housing

About the Institute

At the TSU Institute for Urban Public Health and Housing, we are committed to transforming urban communities by addressing the critical social determinants of health factors like education, housing, workforce development, food insecurity, and access to healthcare that shape the well-being of individuals and families.

Our programs are designed to tackle systemic barriers, and promote holistic solutions that foster healthier, more resilient communities. By integrating research, advocacy, and direct action, we work to ensure that all residents, particularly those from historically underresourced populations, can thrive.

We believe that improving health goes beyond just providing medical care and it requires creating environments where individuals have access to quality education, stable housing, nutritious food, and meaningful employment, along with comprehensive healthcare services. Through strategic partnerships, innovative initiatives, and community-driven solutions, we aim to build pathways to equity and sustainable change for generations to come. Through the six objectives of the institute we address select social determinants of health through various partnerships to achieve six programmatic initiatives.
