Welcome to Texas Southern University’s College of Transdisciplinary Studies

Dr. Cheree Daniels is the Interim Dean of Texas Southern University’s College of Transdisciplinary Studies. Prior to being named interim dean, she served as the Executive Director of the Center for Online Learning and Instructional Technology, where she worked closely with faculty, staff, and academic leaders to support digital learning, instructional innovation, and the continued growth of Texas Southern University’s online programs. She also serves as the University’s campus lead for both the Gates Foundation Complete College Accelerator and the university’s American Association of Colleges & Universities (AAC&U) Institute on AI Pedagogy and Curriculum team — efforts that advance teaching, learning, and student achievement across the institution.

Dr. Daniels brings broad experience in learning innovation, program development, and student success from her prior leadership roles at Virginia State University and Florida A&M University. She served on the steering committee that launched an interdisciplinary studies program and later created and served as the founding director of FAMU’s Health Science (Health Professions Interdisciplinary Studies) degree program. That program grew from an initial cohort of 320 students to more than 1,300, doubling graduation rates within four years. Under her leadership, the Health Science degree program became one of FAMU’s largest undergraduate units—an example of her commitment to accessible, future-focused academic pathways.

With a background that spans academic leadership, program development, curriculum innovation, and faculty advancement, Dr. Daniels is deeply committed to student-centered excellence and collaborative problem-solving. She holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Management from Hampton University, as well as master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Florida A&M University. In her new role as Interim Dean, she is committed to partnering across the campus community to advance interdisciplinary learning, expanding flexible academic opportunities. Her core motivation is crafting novel ways to ensure all Texas Southern University students are well-positioned and competitively advantaged to achieve their highest potential.
