Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), SOAR (Seeking, Observing and Achieving Results) Scholars Program 


Unlock Your Future with the TMCF SOAR Scholars Program at TSU!

The TMCF SOAR (Seeking, Observing, and Achieving Results) Scholars Program at Texas Southern University offers high-achieving high school juniors (rising seniors) a one-week residential college prep experience in June, for free. Participants will learn about HBCU & HBCC institutions, college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities, while also discovering career pathways, academic programs, campus life, and more.  

The 2026 TMCF SOAR Program application portal will open on February 2, 2026.   

    • Program Dates: June 14 - 19, 2026.
    • Eligibility: Current high school juniors (Class of 2027) with a Minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Eligible students must participate in the program during the summer before their senior year. 
    • To apply, eligible students must submit the following information with the online application:
      • High school transcript,
      • Answer two short essay questions:
        • What do you hope to learns and/or accomplish as a participant in the program?
        • What is motivating you to pursue education at a collegiate level?

All application materials should be submitted with application. 

2026 Application Deadlines: 

Priority Deadline – April 15, 2026 (Tentative)    Final Deadline – May 1, 2026 (Tentative)  

Applications received after the priority deadline will be considered based on program availability.
