TSU Health & Safety
COVID-19 – Latest CDC & ACHA Guidelines
Texas Southern University follows the latest CDC and ACHA guidance to ensure the health and safety of our campus community. We actively monitor updates on Covid-19, influenza (flu), and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) to help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses. Stay informed with the most recent recommendations to protect yourself and others.
Below are everyday actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses and keep the TSU community safe and well:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick with a respiratory illness until you are free of fever for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and your symptoms resolve.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched, hard surfaces and objects, including but not limited to, doorknobs, telephones, and computer keyboards.
- Improve air circulation with air purifiers or by opening windows.
- Stay current on your immunizations.
- Get tested.
